HOD in various Cities

Remember the Post on HOD folks living in L.A.? T'was started so local drummers could meet at various L.A venues...

Well here'e my suggestion. Why doesn't all HOD members from various cities attempt to meet in local venues? Like meeting whenever nice clinics happen in your city or whatever else.

Something like:

HOD - L.A
HOD - Toronto
HOD - New York
HOD - Vancouver
HOD - Boston
HOD - Montreal

Or even,

HOD - England
HOD - Sweden

Heee Haaaa!!!

etc...

So here, any Toronto drummers interested, send me a private message and we'll go from there.

Chris Perra, I'd like to come down and see you play someday.

Steve, any inputs on the topic? Agree, disagree?

We've got quite a line-up for our annual Jazzfest coming up the weekend of April 12th?

Any advice on who I should DIE to go see would be greatly appreciated, but I must warn you, that would exceed the 7-day limit imposed by 'The Ring,' (I juss sawwi lass nigh (a la Nelly)).

I've played every afternoon & evening [3 sets] of the Greater Jax Agricultural Fair in Oct. every yr. for 7 yrs in a row except last yr, '02 [fr '95 to '01] [& unfortunatley, it doesnt look like i'll be there in '03 either [img]graemlins/thumbs_down.gif[/img] ]...
That's where i met Rodney Holmes playing w Julian Coryell [Larry's son] at the Landing [b4 he got the Santana gig, pre-Dennis] in '96 on dinner break in between sets...
I also attended the Jazz Fest 2 yrs ago [or is it 3 now?!] when JScofield played w Ben Perowsky; Los Hombres Calientes played w Horacio; & Al Jarreau ended it...
I DEF recommend going to c TOWER OF POWER [if GARIBALDI's with 'em - what else can u say 'bout 'dat!] on Fri, Apr 11, 4 starters...sa' SERIOUS aggressive horn-funk/jazz fo yo azz fer days.... [img]graemlins/thumbs_up.gif[/img]

What's up Uno and Fuse? I'll be trying to make it over to Jax for at least TOP if I'm not gigging...

Fuse, let me know if you know of any more gigs coming up locally we can go to....I'm thinking of going to the Anton Fig clinic at AJs which I believe has been moved to April 22nd...FYI, in case you were planning on coming to my Church gig again (yeah right) we've moved to Ben Hill Middle School on Ehrlich, opposite Allon Sams' studio....speaking of, I may have some gigs coming up with Allon, and I've also been working with Les Sabler recently....I'll keep you posted.

I'm all for bringing people together, the internet is good at that. I got to hang with PLAID in Dallas while I was there, that was cool.

of all weeks to ask where i'm playing... i just got back from l.a. i don't have anything this week yet but something will come up. what do you usually go and check out? most of my gigs are hell top forty right now but they can be fun.

Fuse, do lemme know if your Grtr Jax Ag Fair thingy ever gets resurrected, and I'll be sure and check it out. I was there 2 (maybe 3) years ago, but my kids were more interested in seeing the sleeping (n stanky) cows than checking out the bandstand... If'n' I rememba correcky the drumma had a yellow kit... maybe it was you?

TOP it is then, on the 11th!!!
Roy C, I can't say I'll be wearing a HOD Tee by then, but I'll be in touch via e the closer it gets to see if we can hang out.

Hey - if we end up going to any of these events, in order to identify each udda, howz'bout takin a plain ole light-colored t-shirt & writin [in perm ink] somethin like "Ka-BLUSHDA" across the front & back...really mess some punks' heads up [they'll prob think it's a sneeze, or an explosion, or somethin [img]wink.gif[/img] ]...better yet, on a TIE-DYE t...[if theyre doin LSD it'll really mess 'em up]...[not that that's funny, doin lsd i mean [img]confused.gif[/img] ]....

It all depends, I am very open. Any of your gigs that fits in my schedule would be nice.

Also, any gigs outside Toronto like in the suburbs is fine too. Like west and north-west of Toronto, since I live in the suburb.
